Prayer and Praise - February 2004

Chris & Jana Disler
Recently, we received some Bible study material in Portuguese. Pray that we will have the opportunity to use it with some of our unsaved neighbors. We are also thankful to be able to celebrate Jana’s birthday on the 16th.

Ellie Driesenga
Please pray as the Timbo Bible Church restarts their Friday night kids club this month after taking the month of January to rest and train teachers. Pray that I would have wisdom in scheduling my days as I begin the new ministries the Lord has for me.

Ken & Lori Stucky
Enrollment for ALPHA School went well. Almost all of our desks are filled. Pray for two or three more teachers needed for the 2004 school year. Pray for sponsors to fund the construction of the ALPHA Campus to take place this summer.

Jim & Lydia Johnson
Pray for Erasmo and Raimundo as they adjust to their new areas of ministry in Quixere and Limoeiro. Pray as we plan for a Carnival retreat this month. Pray for the new evangelism team as it begins to canvas the city. Continue to pray for 19 year old Juliano as he battles leukemia.

Larry & Ruth Lipka
Larry will be in several missionary conferences during February. Pray that God will continue to send BGFM more workers. Pray that students will be challenged to give their lives for missionary service and that some would join BGFM in ministry. Also, pray for safety in the many miles that he will be traveling.

Harold & Ruth Green
Thank you for your prayers as we will be traveling February 6 through 23 to Spokane, WA to visit supporting churches, individual supporters, and family. Pray for safety in travel, good health, and that we would be a blessing and encouragement to those to whom we will minister.

Dale & Carol Johnson
Praise the Lord for increased interest in a most needed Bible Correspondence Course “Love, Courtship & Marriage”. Pray for the pastors that are supervising adolescents taking the course. They realize the need of teaching this subject from a Biblical perspective to these young people to combat what is being taught in the public schools. We receive many thank you notes in appreciation for these studies.

Roger & Crystal Johansen
Pray for Pastor Erimor to adjust well to his new ministry with us. Pray for our new seminary extension that will be started with three classes. Pray for needed finances to purchase church property.

Philip & Rachel Stucky
School is back in full swing for Mark, our 11th grader, after an enjoyable vacation. SIBIMA Seminary will be starting a new school year on February 9th. Pray for an increase in student enrollment and for wisdom for Pastor Jenuan as he begins his tenure as SIBIMA Seminary president.

Sam & Jeanne Stucky - Retired
Pray for Jeanne as she recovers from a recent fall that bruised her hip. Pray for Sam as he is scheduled to have cataract surgery on February 18th.

Ron & Nancy Johnson
Praise the Lord for four beautiful weddings in which we were privileged to take part. Praise God for some good family time and a good end of the year services interior and in Jereisatti. Pray for God’s will for the Mission Home ministry and the Jereisatti church as we plan to return to Poco Doce in the beginning of June. Thank God that the enrollment for the Carnival Camp at Silver Lake Bible Camp is already full.

Lucy Lieb
At Nova Metropole, I will be working more with the administration of the Sunday School, trying to improve attendance and helping the teachers in each class. SIBIMA classes begin again in February. I’ll be teaching a class as well as working in the library.

Ron & Ranelle Stucky
Praise God for over 120 students at ALPHA. Pray as we make all the adjustments that the beginning of a school year demands. Pray for consistent spiritual growth for our church members throughout this year.

Jerry & Bev Lehrman
Pray for the Bible Institute as classes begin this month with nine new students. Pray that they will integrate well into the school schedule and be eager to learn the truths of God’s Word that are taught. Also, remember the returning students and the ministries they are involved with in various local churches as well as the courses they are taking this semester.

Priscila School
We are thankful for good attendance at Priscila School even though we were late getting a place to hold it. We are thankful for the Brazilian teachers who are willing to be involved.

Bill & Sandi Graf - Mission Representative
Praise the Lord for what He is teaching us about building better relationships with young people on the college campuses. Praise Him, too, for greater exposure in seminars, classroom time, and devotions. Pray for us as we visit colleges in Arizona and California this month.

Joe & Jeanie Stucky
Pray for us to have wisdom and for the people in our church to be receptive as we endeavor to teach and model the Biblical principles for husband and wife relationships and child rearing. Several of our moms are single parents. In other cases, children live with grandparents who provide food, clothing, and housing for them but do not realize that they also need to train and discipline these children.

Gerald & Amy Bergen - Retired
Our son, Tim, will be leading a group of 25 short termers ministering in and around Silver Lake Bible Camp in Brazil this month. They will be working on the camp facility and ministering to the spiritual needs of the many people living in the surrounding area. Pray that this will impact both the short termers and the Brazilians for God’s glory. Also pray that Gerald will quickly recover from his cataract surgery on the other eye.

National Pastors
Praise the Lord that Pastors Valdemir and Mendonca believe the Lord would have them team up to plant a church in Crateus where Mendonca is second in command of the Military Police. Pray that Valdemir would soon have all of his support and that he would find housing.

Bruce & LeeAnn Nichols
SIBIMA Seminary classes begin in February. Pray as Bruce teaches the course on Genesis that he recently wrote, the Doctrine of Man and Bible Geography. Pray that he might be used of God to build up His people. Pray for LeeAnn as she teaches the Bible in a public school. Pray for wisdom as we plan for furlough in the USA, beginning in June.

Berean Camp Ministry
Pray for the future of the camp ministry and for God to raise up leaders. Pray as we continue looking for camp property. Praise God for Assis who has done a wonderful job of co-directing the camp events this past year. Praise God for the great youth encounters during the 2003 year.

Dan & Linda Anderson
Praise the Lord for a great couple’s retreat in December. Of the seventeen couples that participated, eleven people were not believers. Pray for a heart response to the Gospel. Pray for Lanilda’s testimony to her husband, Francisco. Also please pray for Anderson & Elaine, Ceasar & Juliana, Joselito & Dalva, Joao & Vaneide, and Nil & Paula to be saved and become active in the Igreja Esperanca.

Matthew 9:37-38
“Then saith he unto His disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.”

Wendell & Florence Ann Hayden - Retired
It was a joy to help Wendell’s mother celebrate her 94th birthday on January 26. She lives in a care center in Stuart, Iowa and is doing fairly well for her age. We would appreciate your prayers for Wendell as he works with his diabetes educators. He will be using a 72 hour glucose monitor which should show some blood sugar patterns and be helpful as they consider the possibility of having him use an insulin pump.

Patrick & Rachel Maher
Pray for Patrick as he seeks needed funds to purchase former school facilities which will be used in the planting of a new church in Maceio.

Joel & Melissa Johnson
Pray for the salvation of Ilza, Chico’s wife. Pray for the salvation of Herlanio, Antonio, Elias and Joao. Praise God for the spouses of these men who already know Christ as Savior. Pray for a larger place to meet and land for the church.

Jonathan & Chima Nichols - Furlough
Chima has passed the FBI search for criminal record and is now waiting for notice of the date for the written exam. Continue to pray that she will get her citizenship in time for us to return to Brazil this summer.

Al & Nadine Pierschbacher
Praise the Lord for good opportunities to share the Gospel in Pacoti. Praise the Lord that the road work to the Retreat Center is completed. Pray for the salvation of Dr. Regis, Lilia’s husband, and for her spiritual growth. Pray for Danilo, Joe Airton, Val, Antonio, Maria, Albany, Lucas, Lucia, Amilton, Cesar, Raimundo, Kika, Nilson, Nerilene, Idelfonso and Antonia, young people and adults we have begun to share the Gospel with in Fortaleza and Pacoti. Pray for Renata, a new believer in Pacoti to grow and stand against the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Nancy Lieb
Pray for Deborah, a girl I have known since she was a baby, who is dating George, an unsaved man (separated but not divorced from his wife) that she will respond to the spirits conviction of her sin. She is under discipline by her church but is attending faithfully. George is attending also.
