Prayer and Praise - November 2004

Jerry & Bev Lehrman
We praise the Lord for the opportunity to return to Brazil on October 27th. This date marks 18 years since we left for the field the first time in 1986, and we are grateful for the years of blessing God has given us serving Him in Brazil. Pray for wisdom as we get settled again into the ministries of the Antioch Bible Institute and Sambaiba Bible Church.

Chris & Jana Disler
We are looking forward to the opportunity to get together with other missionaries for a time of Thanksgiving. This is always a good time of games, fellowship and rest. We praise the Lord for His many blessings and provisions for our family.

Jim & Lydia Johnson - Furlough
In this Thanksgiving season we have much to thank the Lord for: opportunities to see many on furlough; provision of a vehicle and safety in many miles of travel; good reports from Limoeiro and Quixere; decisions made for the Lord in churches here in the U.S.A.; God's meeting our every need and giving us health. The list goes on, but we will stop here and just Praise His Holy name.

Dale & Carol Johnson
Praise the Lord for encouraging letters from listeners in Camocim. They tell of their appreciation for the spiritual food of the Word by means of daily Gospel programs. Praise God, too, for the many from the Camocim area who are requesting the Bible Correspondence courses.

Assis & Sonia Rodrigues
Praise the Lord for the faithful work of Assis and Sonia with the Edson Queroz congregation. Tuesday night prayer meeting, Saturday evening youth meeting, Sunday afternoon Sunday School, evening service, are all held in a rented school building.

Ken & Lori Stucky
God has graciously provided a 35 passenger bus for use in the ministry. Though we have put it to use repeatedly over the past couple of months, it is not totally paid for. Please pray with us for the remaining funds and for safety in transporting ALPHA children and Christ is Life Church families who do not have their own vehicles.

Ed & Jane Lieb - Retired
Praise the Lord for His watchful care and blessings on our time in Brazil. Pray for us as we finish our classes at the Antioch Bible Institute. Pray for the Lord's blessing on our vacation week with Lucy and Nancy in Gramado, RS in December.

Dave & Connie Johnson
Praise for the salvation of Mrs. Fatima and for a good start with couples meetings. Pray with us for visits in homes; for Fred who has stopped attending meetings; for wisdom in counseling adolescents with problem areas and in translating some study material. Pray for plans to visit interior towns for a field survey.

Priscila School
Pray as we soon get the prospectus into the hands of the students so that they can prepare for the classes in January.

Nancy Lieb
I am thankful for the time I have with my parents while they are in Brazil. I am also thankful for the opportunity to help in the Mission's Guest House these months.

Matthew 9:37-38
“Then saith he unto His disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.

Paul & Elaine Syers
Praise the Lord for His goodness in helping a number of Antioch Bible Institute students get back to good health and also for helping them with homework assignments which they thought were difficult.

Dave & Sue Eldert
We praise the Lord for two good ladies retreats of 150 women. Several decisions were made concerning marriage commitments and the home. Pray for the men's retreat November 13-15th. Pray for one of our couples at the Institute that is struggling with finances and in managing their income.

SIBIMA Seminary
We are thankful for the good Masters Course which was offered the beginning of September. Pray for the ones who are taking the Masters Course and for those who are teaching.

Lucy Lieb
Pray for the Nova Metropole Church as it begins looking for a new pastor. Pray for wisdom in choosing someone to lead the work and minister the Gospel in that area. Pray as we receive the registrations for Priscila School that God will be preparing the students who will be studying in January 2005. Pray as the teachers prepare for their classes.

Wendell & Florence Ann Hayden - Retired
We praise the Lord for opportunities He continues to give for ministry this month. We'd appreciate your prayers as we plan a six week trip to Brazil beginning in January.

Youth Retreats
January is vacation month for schools in Brazil. During that time several youth retreats are planned to encourage the young people in their walk with the Lord. Pray for wisdom for those planning the retreats, as they work through all of the details of arranging speakers, kitchen helpers and counselors.

Gerald & Amy Bergen - Retired
We praise the Lord for the good spirit of unity and acceptance of some changes at our church as Gerald leads that work. Please pray with us as we both will be ministering at the Mission Harvest Festival in Goltry, OK November 19th through the 21st. This was Gerald's sending church when he went to Brazil in 1953.

Roger & Crystal Johansen
Praise the Lord for Julianna Favill Johansen's safe arrival on October 2nd into our family and that Crystal and baby are doing well. Praise the Lord for an excellent time of encouragement from our home church men's group that came to help in the work for eight days. Pray for Carlos and Marizete's salvation as well as travel mercies for Roger's Mom who plans to come for a visit in November.

Ellie Driesenga
This month we are beginning to officially organize the deaf ministry at Planalto Church. Please pray for wisdom and direction. Also pray for our Day Camp November 27th for young people. We normally have about 200 youth. We will be trying some new activities focusing on their responsibility as part of the body of Christ locally and internationally.

Matthew 9:37-38
“Then saith he unto His disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.

Bruce & LeeAnn Nichols - Furlough
We are thankful for the delightful time we have each Sunday afternoon with our married sons and daughters-in-law in the study of Genesis. It has been a time getting to know God and them better.

Joe & Jeanie Stucky
Jeanie is doing a teacher's training course with Vitoria and Damiana. Pray for them to soon be equipped to join our Sunday School teaching staff. Pray for the teachers of the young people's class to be able to create a desire in the students to study and apply God's Word.

Dan & Linda Anderson
Please pray for the salvation of Gilson (father) and Se Luzia. Gilson is studying the Bible with Dan and Se Luzia with Linda. Praise the Lord for their two children who have trusted Christ and are attending church faithfully, and are regularly cleaning the church buildings. Praise the Lord for Kim Plumlee who is with us for five weeks to help Linda in the home and with home schooling. Her presence is allowing Linda to do the Bible study with Se Luzia.

New Appointees
Thank God with us that two new appointees Jon Johnson and Becky Stout were approved by the Board on October 1st. Pray that they could quickly realize their prayer and financial support allowing them to join our missionaries in ministry in Brazil.

Harold & Ruth Green
We are thankful to the Lord for the special time of fellowship we enjoyed last month with our missionaries on furlough while they were here for our mission's semi-annual business meeting. Our hearts are grateful to the Lord for you, who faithfully pray for us.

Joel & Melissa Johnson - Furlough
Please continue to pray for Mom Johnson. Praise the Lord for a wonderful trip to Illinois in October. It was great to see friends and our missionary families at the BGFM Board meeting. Pray for the continued work at our church in Lagoa Redonda.

Larry & Ruth Lipka
Renee is enjoying her ministry at ALPHA school in Brazil. Pray for God's protection and blessings upon her as she teaches and visits other locations.
