Prayer and Praise - August 2005

& Ruth Green
It is our wonderful privilege in the Lord to have been associated
with BGFM for so many years (since 1968) and involved with the many
functions of the total ministry. Can you imagine our joy, as on
this day, August 1st, our daughter and her family are leaving to
begin their career of serving the Lord in the Mid-East. We pray
for Jonathan & Heather and Heidi (9) & Kristin (7) as they
enter into language training as well as the adjustments in living
in a totally different culture.

Thank you for your prayer for our move to Morada Nova to begin
a new work. Our co-workers, Jim and Lydia Johnson, have arrived
safely back to Brazil after furlough. August will be the first
month our family will be living in Morada Nova. Please pray for
open hearts to the Gospel and for the new relationships we will
be starting.

Ask God to give us a great vacation at a cabin in Minnesota the
first week of August. Some family members will be with us and
we want to relax playing games, fishing, reading and just enjoying
the lake. We will also attend appointee Jonathan Johnson's wedding
in Minnesota August 20th.

Praise the Lord for our safe return to Brazil. Continue to
pray for us as we look for housing and settle into a new situation
in the town of Morada Nova. Pray also as we meet people, that we
may get to know them quickly.

We praise the Lord for His gracious provision of short term
missionaries. Pray for an effective ministry for Sheila
beginning July 6th, the CBC team beginning July 28th, the
AC3 team beginning August 9th and the Koehn family in September.
Pray also for a full time English teacher for the ALPHA
Christian School.

Pray for Giselda as she disciples Neide, a friend she was instrumental
in winning to the Lord. Pray also for Cristina and Susana as they
make visits with the goal of evangelizing those who don't know Jesus.
Pray that others in the church would join them in this important ministry.

& Nadine Pierschbacher - Furlough
Praise the Lord for safety in the several thousand miles we have
traveled so far. Pray for us as we speak at the United Indian
Mission Conference in New Mexico August 8-12. Pray for Brazilian
missionaries to be raised up to reach the mountain region where
the retreat center is located. Pray for the salvation of Joe and
Val in Pacoti. Pray for Joe Antonio to be saved. Pray that God
will continue to use us during our furlough time.

Praise God fo rthe new "Ecos do Calvario" radio program Monday
through Friday reaching three million people in the Caucaia and
Fortaleza area. Pray for wisdom concerning the program in Camocim
and the possibility of a new program in Limoeiro do Norte. Pray
that the Word of God will touch hearts and change lives by means
of the air waves.

We enjoyed visiting Pedra Branca, where we ministered from 1973-1986.
Dave was the speaker over the weekend at the Pedra Branca Church
which celebrated its 35th anniversary. It was a joy to see so many
new believers. We are expecting three new students at the Antioch
Bible Institute. Pray as we get houses, curriculum and teachers
lined up for the new semester that begins August 15th.

“And this is life eternal, that they might
know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Pray for those confused in religion to know the only true God and
His son, Jesus Christ.

We praise the Lord for the special time we had with family and
friends from the states durin our school break. It was also a
special blessing to see two couples from our Bible Institute get
married during this break. Pray with us as we begin classess
again this month and as students become involved in ministries
in the surrounding areas of the Antioch Bible Institute.

Praise the Lord for the two missions trips that our Brazilian
church sponsored. The Brazilians loved going out to other areas
helping with the work of the Lord. Pray that God would raise up
future pastors and missionaries from within our group.

Driesenga - Furlough
Praise the Lord for His blessings as I visit churches during
July and August. Pray that God would be working in people's
lives through those visits. Also, pray for Jennifer Schulder
and me as we travel to Kansas City, MO this month and begin
classes at Calvary Bible College.
Lucy
Lieb
Pray as we begin a new semester at SIBIMA. I need to begin
training someone for the library and in August work with the
new group of student librarians. A number will graduate this
year, so it is vital that I have a new group of students. There
has been some encouragement at Nova Metropole Bible Church; however,
we are still searching for a pastor.
Pedra Branca Bible Church
Praise the Lord for the faithfulness of Pastor Manuel de Deus
as he shepherds this group of believers. Pray that daily his
heart would be encouraged through the Word as he prepares for
various Bible studies. We are grateful to the Lord for over
100 students in the Christian school and for seven dedicated
teachers. Pray that the teenage girls in the church would
find Christian young men to date.
Priscilla School
Pray for the January session of Priscilla School to be held in
Fortaleza. Nancy needs to find a place to hold it and line up
teachers.
Bill
& Sandi Graf - Missionaries at Large
Please pray for the church in Limoeiro do Norte during the time of
transition as Pastor Raimundo goes to Morada Nova to help in the
church plan and Marcicleudo takes the responsibility of the pastorate.
Please pray for the church in Sao Joao that is facing severe attacks
from the enemy of our souls.
Acts 1:8
“But ye shall receive power, after that the
Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
”
Pray that all of those associated with BGFM will be
faithful witnesses.

We praise the Lord for the 50th wedding anniversary celebration held
on Sunday afternoon of July 10. It was so good to celebrate with our
children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. We praise the Lord
for the 50 wonderful years of serving the Lord together. Please pray
with us as we seek God's direction in service opportunities.
Jonathan Johnson - Appointee
We continue to rejoice in the things God is doing in our lives.
We praise God because He is faithful to work and accomplish His
purpose in our lives as well as working in those we come in contact
with. Today Denielle and I will be married. Pray for us as we begin
this ministry together.

Please pray for Edinaldo, a first-year Antioch Bible Institute
student, who will now be in charge of either giving messages on
Gijoca's Sunday radio program or finding a local pastor to do it
each week.

Thank the Lord with us for the joy our sons bring us. Pray for
wisdom to train them in a way that glorifies God Pray for fruit
as we continue to visit ALPHA families in our neighborhood.
National Pastors
Pray for the on-going training of nearly thirty pastors and church
leaders in Santa Quiteria the last Saturday of each month. We are
considering adding two new teachers in the near future.
Jonathan
& Chima Nichols
Jair, who was serving as part-time pastor in Sobral, was transferred
to Fortaleza early in June. Pray that Jair, one of the top managers
in the state for the pharmaceutical company, will give a clear testimony
for the Lord. Praise God, Mackson was installed as pastor in his place,
July 9th and for the harmony that exists between Pastor Mackson and Pastor
Domingos. Pray that they willl be greatly used of the Lord.

“Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
”
Pray that those living in darkness in Northeast Brazil
will come to realize that Jesus is the Light of the World.

Praise the Lord that Pastor Vicente and his family are planning to
move to Bojita, an outstation ministry of the Jereissati Bible Church.
Pray for their adjustment to a new place and wisdom as they begin
establishing contacts and schedule meetings.

We praise the Lord for our safe arrival back home in Brazil
and for the welcome we received. Continue to pray for wisdom in
choices that we make concerning ministry so that we might best use
our talents to the glory of God.

& Jane Lieb - Retired
Pray for Ed as he prepares to teach the book of Daniel during the
month of August. Ed has been invited to teach a course at the
Antioch Bible Institute in Brazil. Pray for the Lord's guidance as to
when to go (probably in 2006) and which course to teach.

& Connie Johnson
Praise for four churches and for good reports from listners. We
are thankful for a good year ministering the Word in Caucaia during
Bruce & LeeAnn Nichols' home assignment. Pray for suitable housing in
Pacajus, as we begin a new church planting ministry there. Pray for
wisdom in planning and setting goals.
BGFM Home Office
We would appreciate your prayers as preparations are being made for our
Semi-Annual Business Meeting to be held September 16th. Pray for Larry
Lipka and Harold Green as they compile committee reportsand financial statements
for this meeting.
Sam
& Jeanne Stucky - Retired
The latter part of September the quartet that Sam sang with at Grace Bible College
many years ago will be giving two prgrams at alumni rallies. One will be at Grace
and the other in Netwon, Kansa. Pray that Sam will have the physical strength to make
the trip and sing with the quartet.
MK's Schooling
Pray for each missionary family as the summer schedule comes to an end
and as their children either go off to college, MK boarding school or
begin home school.
