Prayer and Praise - February 2005

Dave & Sue Eldert
We are thankful for the prospect of four to six new students in February. Pray for the construction of our duplexes, preparations for the classes and our returning students. Pray for Jose (Joseph), one of our students, who was hit by a motorcycle on his wedding day (civil ceremony, the church wedding is yet unmarked). Pray that he will recuperate and be able to return with his new wife to study at the Bible Institute.

Harold & Ruth Green
Thank you for your prayers on our behalf as we minister in the Home Office of BGFM. This month our executive director will be visiting several colleges. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom as we care for the various responsibilities in the office during his absence.

Al & Nadine Pierschbacher
Praise the Lord for three families that spent quality family and ministry refreshment time at the Retreat Center over the Christmas and New Year holiday. We praise the Lord for their patience with the remodeling projects. Pray with us that these projects will soon be finished. Pray also for our neighbors who saw the example of Christ through our guests testimonies and contact with them.

Please pray as we begin our sign language classes in the Planalto Bible Church. Praise the Lord for the interest that several young people have shown in being involved in the deaf ministry. Also pray that the Lord would continue to work in their hearts.

Pray for the completion of the housing for institute students who will be returning this month. Pray that things will run smoothly as students and professors get back into the school schedule. We praise the Lord for a group of students who are willing to help and be involved in our church in Sambaiba.

Ron & Nancy Johnson
Praise that the Jereissati Bible Church called a national co-pastor, Mauro Rocha, to help in the ministry. Pray for God’s blessings on him and the church as they learn to work together. Pray also for Carnival Retreat early this month.

Ron & Ranelle Stucky
Praise the Lord with us for a growing student body at Alpha in 2005. Pray for us to take advantage of the opportunities this brings. Pray for our church people to be more diligent in using their gifts in the ministry.

Bruce & LeeAnn Nichols - Furlough
Praise the Lord for His grace on Faith Ann who passed her GED tests. Pray for her as she begins LPN training at a Community College near where she lives with her grandparents, Ken & Lorraine Nichols. She desires to use her nurses training to provide work to pay for her future Bible college training. Please pray for her as she ministers to the elderly in care centers with her grandparents.

Nancy Lieb
Praise for Klaynilton who is program director for the Carnival Retreat with the possibility of working full time with our Berean Camp ministry. Pray for wisdom as we begin to work on Brazilian By-Laws and Standing Rules as a step towards nationalizing the Berean Camp ministry.

Dan & Linda Anderson
Pray for Dinho and Fabiana as they continue their studies at Antioch Bible Institute. They are daily growing in Christ . Pray for the salvation of ten men at the Vila Rica church plant. Shaua Applegate is with us for five months to help in the ministry and especially home schooling. Please pray that she will help us catch up on the schooling! Pray that God will give Shauna clear direction for her life during this time with us.

Philip & Rachel Stucky
This semester SIBIMA seminary will officially become an autonomous organization with its own Brazilian leadership. Praise the Lord with us for this important milestone in the life of the seminary and pray for wisdom for the new leadership during this crucial transitional year. Pray as well for Antonio, our gardener, who has colon cancer and is taking chemotherapy treatments until May. Pray that God would grant him more years of life here according to His will. We also rejoice with him in the salvation of his oldest daughter, Aline.

Ruth is teaching a ladies Bible study at a local mission and a children’s class at church. Larry will be preaching and presenting seminars a number of times during February. Pray that God will challenge each listener through the power of His word.

Sam & Jeanne Stucky - Retired
We are thankful for a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary in Brazil. Our grandson, Luke, did a good job of taking care of us and making sure we had wheelchairs. We praise the Lord for renewing our friendships with ourBrazilian brothers and sisters in the Lord. It was great! Philip and Rachel were excellent hosts!

Gerald & Amy Bergen - Retired
Please continue to pray for Gerald’s “Pastoral and Mentoring responsibilities”. Things are going well. We praise the Lord for the love and unity among the church people.

Pray for wisdom as we prepare our church people to be involved in ministry and as we focus on studying and teaching the Bible, not just learning facts, but changing lives.

Patrick & Rachel Maher
Please pray for us as we train at least 15 new small group Bible study leaders this month. Pray for wisdom as we seek for a Brazilian pastor for our church. This year we will be gearing up to send Juan and Ruth to begin the second church.

Pray for those confused in religion to know the only true God and His Son Jesus Christ.

Paul & Elaine Syers
Please pray for Fabi, a third year Antioch Bible Institute student, who will begin teaching the first year Portuguese course this month. She will return to school early so she and Elaine can work on her lesson plans. When Fabi first came to the institute, she literally shook when presenting anything before the other students. Now she has overcome this nervousness through diligent study and thorough preparation for each class, but she will still need your prayers for this new challenge.

Wendell & Florence Ann Hayden - Retired
We praise the Lord for the opportunity to visit Brazil this month. We would appreciate your prayers as we minister and visit both Brazilians and missionaries. Please pray especially for Wendell as he teaches a modular course in Antioch Bible Institute the week of February 21st, and as he officiates for Daniel and Rosangela’s wedding on the 26th.
