Prayer and Praise - May 2005
Ken
& Lori Stucky
We are thankful for the thirty men and women who serve together in
the ALPHA School Ministry. Pray with us for lives to be reached for
Christ. We have multiple opportunities each day to talk to Alpha families
about the love of Jesus Christ and the need for salvation. Pray also
for Ken's fund raising trip to the USA ending May 18th.
Ellie
Driesenga
Pray for me as this is my last month in Brazil before furlough. There
is still much to be done: a PowerPoint presentation to prepare and
scheduling visits with churches for furlough, attending a conference
for camps in Sao Paulo, helping to organize a retreat for singles
that will be held May 26-29, last minute purchases, packing and more.
Pray that in all these responsibilities I will keep my eyes focused
on the Lord Jesus alone rather than on all that must be done.
Chris
& Jana Disler
Praise God that we are progressing through our language studies. We
trust that we will be finished or very close to finishing our schooling
by the end of May. Pray for us as we transition from our current ministries
to a new work in Morada Nova. We are planning to move there very soon.
Dale
& Carol Johnson
Praise the Lord for the brief visit with Michael Riley of Bible Broadcast
Network and of our friend Celestiono from Sao Paulo. Both have 24
hour Christian radio stations aired in our area. Pray for the evangelistic
outreach of each one.
Harold
& Ruth Green
We are grateful to the Lord for your faithful prayers on our behalf
each month. May 5th-9th we are planning a short vacation to visit
our daughter and family in Duluth, MN. Pray for safety as we travel.
Pray also for Harold as he completes the financial reports for the
annual audit mid May.
Roger
& Crystal Johansen
Pray for Pastor Eriomar and his family to continue faithfully serving
the Lord. Pray also for Gilson and other teens who need to get their
hearts right with the Lord. Pray for the salvation of Carlos, Marizete,
Aldeir and Heloisa. Praise the Lord for Raniel and Wesly who made
eternal decisions for Christ.
Bruce
& LeeAnn Nichols - Furlough
We thank God for challenges received from conferences we attended
in March. The Lord willing, we plan to leave Kansas City May 14th.
Please pray for wisdom as we finish home schooling and pack. We'll
visit churches on our way out east before leaving for Brazil on June
14th.
Jerry
& Bev Lehrman
We ask your prayers for wisdom in final preparations for the Antioch
Bible Institute choir program that will be given during May and June.
Learning the music has been a real blessing for the students. We are
asking the Lord to make these presentations in local churches a blessing
and spiritual challenge.
SIBIMA Seminary
We are thankful for the ninety students registered in the regular
SIBIMA course. We have also started a music course and an English
course this semester. Pray for the administration as they start preparing
the calendar for next semester.
Paul
& Elaine Syers
Please pray about work opportunities for all of the Bible Institute
students who want to work. Pray also for Elaine who had another left
leg injury and is getting back on her feet. She has been having classes
on their porch but hopes to return to the classroom soon. Thank the
Lord that Paul is able to walk more easily. He seldom uses his walker
but continues to ride his bike to the garage and other buildings nearby.
Al
& Nadine Pierschbacher - Furlough
Praise the Lord that Alisa is graduating from Calvary Bible College
on May 7th. Praise the Lord for the salvation of Joao Luis. His wife,
Maria Jose, is the woman in charge of our Biblical Counseling for
women at the Planalto Church. They own a school and we are praying
and talking with them about a new church plant in their school when
we return from furlough. Pray for the salvation of their two college
age sons, Bruno and Tiago. The Lord willing, we will begin our furlough
April 27th. Please pray for dependable transportation.
Larry
& Ruth Lipka
On April 4th, Larry's mother, Edna, went to be with the Lord. Her
funeral was on April 7th and Larry had business meetings on the 8th
and 9th plus our annual banquet with over 250 in attendance on the
9th. Thank God with us for His timing and strength for each day. His
sufficiency was very evident in our lives. The prayers of God's people
are so important. Keep praying!
Joe
& Jeanie Stucky
Pray for us as we continue to train the people in our church to take
on more responsibilities. Joe has been meeting weekly with Ricardo,
Milton and Anderson to teach them how to prepare and deliver messages.
Pray that these men would find this instruction helpful and apply
what they learn so they will be better equipped to prepare messages
and preach.
Berean Camp
We are thankful for a good training session for those who will be
working with Klaynilton and Ellie in our events. Pray that Klaynilton's
financial support will come in so he will be able to devote full time
to the ministry of program director.
Philip
& Rachel Stucky
On May 27th, Mark will be graduating from high school at Fortaleza
Academy in Brazil. His grandparents, Bill and Esther Hayburn, will
be here for the special celebration. Pray for wisdom for Mark as he
wraps up his years in Brazil and enters The Master's College in the
fall, majoring in Youth Ministry. Pray for God's provision and leading
in his life.
Bill
& Sandi Graf - Mission Representatives
Praise the Lord for His provision of health, strength and resources
to serve as representatives in schools and churches during the past
months. Pray for us as we plan for summer ministry.
Priscila School
Pray as we prepare for Priscila School at Silver Lake Bible Camp in
July. We have started registrations but are not sure how many will
be coming.
Nancy
Lieb
Pray for wisdom in knowing whether to do the radioactive iodine treatment
for my Graves' disease or not. I have received conflicting reports.
Wendell
& Florence Ann Hayden - Retired
We thank the Lord for the privilege and blessings Wendell had in teaching
a modular course in Missions at Grace Bilbe Baptist Seminary last
month. Thank you for praying. We're grateful too for several opportunities
we've had recently and expect to have again this month for fellowship
in our home with missionary coworkers.
Jim
& Lydia Johnson - Furlough
We praise the Lord for His provisions through new supporters enabling
us to return to the field with 100% of our recommended support. We
are also thankful for those of you who faithfully use this prayer
bulletin and pray regularly for us.
Ron
& Ranelle Stucky
Praise the Lord for the opportunity to have Ranelle's parents with
us for three weeks last month. Pray for wisdom and the best use of
our time as we use opportunities to share Jesus with neighbors and
school families.
Dave
& Sue Eldert
We praise the Lord that He spared the life of Sue's brother (Butch)
in an emergency aneurysm surgery that took 19 hours. Due to complications,
the surgery left him blind. Pray for the family with all of the adjustments,
recuperation for Butch, spiritual needs for the whole family and that
Butch would come back to the Lord and be a testimony to his unsaved
family.
Dan
& Linda Anderson
Praise the Lord that Everaldo and Benedita have expressed that they
were genuinely saved over a year ago. They are desiring to grow and
are studying the Bible with Dan weekly. Praise the Lord for Shauna's
help with home school! We are going to get done in time this year
even though having a new baby and company during the fall semester!
Pray for the salvation of Maria, Zeka, Socorro Cicero and Waldimir's
mom, Alaide.
Jonathan
& Chima Nichols
Continue to pray that the Lord will challenge new donors to provide
scholarships for thirty of our students at SIBIMA Seminary. Pray for
the salvation of Placido, Ozires, Collyer and Sara.
Ron
& Nancy Johnson
Please pray as we seek for someone to minister full time in the outstation
of Butija. We are also praying for someone to serve with Nancy in
the youth ministry and assume this responsibility when we leave for
furlough tentatively planned for the summer of 2006. We praise God
for a good number of visitors in the services recently.
Gerald
& Amy Bergen - Retired
We have just moved to Newton, Kansas. We praise the Lord for His wonderful
provision of a new house. Please pray with us for our adjustment and
many details as we get settled. We want appropriate opportunities
to serve the Lord in this area.
Joel
& Melissa Johnson
Praise for safety in our travels and for a good response to our new
ministries as missionaries at large. Pray for our pre-trip meetings
for our short term missions trips. Pray for our land project fund
raising for Lagoa Redonda Church. We have about 8% of the amount needed.
Pray for transportation needs for Pastor Johnny and pray for the salvation
of Chico's wife, Ilza.
John
17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might
know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Pray for those confused in religion to know the only true God and
His son, Jesus Christ.
Evangelism
Pray for Brazilian missionaries needed to help in the evangelization
of the five cities in the mountain region where the retreat center
is located.
Dave
& Connie Johnson
Praise for the opportunity to record programs for BBN, broadcasting
on three radio stations in Brazil, and on the internet. Pray that
a Christian couple, Mauro & Cristina, will allow God to save their
marriage. Pray that Lanusse, dealing with serious family problems
and alcoholism, will respond well as he studies the Word.
Jon Johnson
- Appointee
"Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest,
and causest to approach unto Thee...we shall be satisfied with the
goodness of Thy house..." Psalm 65:4 I praise God for
opportunities to minister both in Hot Springs and in other areas.
Please pray for the summer camps and retreats that are being scheduled.
Pray too for the ministry at my home church.
