Prayer and Praise - June 2006
Chris & Jana Disler
Please pray as we tie up loose ends in preparation for our home assignment this summer. Praise the Lord for some twenty plus meetings that have already been scheduled in churches and with individuals to share what the Lord is doing in Brazil. We also praise the Lord for the ten years of marriage that He has given us.
National Pastor - Pastor Eriomar
We are thankful to the Lord for the privilege to serve Him. We have been in Maceio a little over two years, and it has been a blessing to see several people trust the Lord as Savior, to see spiritual growth in the lives of believers and the beginning of a new work in another neighborhood. Pray for men to be saved that would be capable of leadership in the church and that God would provide a couple to direct our youth group. Thank you for praying for us.
Joel & Melissa Johnson - Missionaries at Large
Please pray for the upcoming mission trips that are being planned for this year. One in Septmeber and the other one in October/November. Praise the Lord for those who have already gone and are looking forward to going again.
Ken & Lori Stucky
We are grateful for the richness of God's Word and it's application to every day issues. Pray for wisdom in using Biblical principles as we confront problem students and their parents at the ALPHA Christian School. Praise the Lord also for three people who followed Christ in baptism at our church in April.
Al & Nadine Pierschbacher
Praise the Lord for two young ladies saved in Mulungu through the missionary work of Euclides and Dalvia. Pray for this new field. Praise the Lord for the good response and new children's ministry that is beginning at our new church plant. The average attendance is around fifty. Pray for wisdom in choosing the right name for this church.
Ellie Driesenga
Praise the Lord for a blessed year on home assignment in the U.S. I am thankful for these last two weeks with my parents before returning to Brazil on June 13th. Please pray for Kady Smith who will be going to Brazil with me to intern for three months. Pray that the Lord will through this trip direct her concerning future ministry.
Priscilla School - Teacher Training for Women
Pray for the students who are enrolling for the Priscilla School to be held July 17th-22nd at the Silver Lake Bible Camp. We are thankful for each of the teachers and their desire to serve the Lord in this ministry. Pray for them as they prepare lesson plans for that week.
Paul & Elaine Syers
Please for Wellington, a second-year Antioch Bible Institute student who is burdened for his home church now that it is without a pastor. He often spends his weekends there leading many of the church's meetings and planning sessions, and has a difficult time finding transportation back to ABI for Monday morning classes. He is an excellent student but a comparatively new believer and just twenty years old this month, so this is a heavy load. Area pastors visit to preach for one service but people come to Wellington for advice and to discuss problems.
Roger & Crystal Johansen
Praise the Lord for fourteen that professed Christ last month. Pray for their spiritual growth. Pray for the fifty seven people from our home church in the U.S. to arrive safely and that they will have a super encouraging experience viewing missions here in Maceio. Pray for us as we prepare for home assignment and all the details and needs associated with a family of six while on home assignment.
Lucy Lieb - Furlough
I am thankful for the good travels I've had visiting supporters. This month I will be attending two conferences for librarians. Continue to pray that the necessary support will come in before I return to Brazil August 7th.
Evangelism
From time to time we have requested prayer for five couples to minister in some major towns in the mountain area. Thank God with us for answered prayer. Euclides and Dalvia are doing missionary work in Mulungu, one of these towns. Praise the Lord for two young ladies that recently trusted the Lord as their Savior.
Ron & Ranelle Stucky
Praise the Lord for many opportunities to tell others about salvation through faith in Jesus and to teach the Bible to help them grow. Pray for wise use of time and recourses to buy up these opportunities. Praise for God's protection in our daily lives.
Ron & Nancy Johnson
Praise God with us for Andrew's engagement and wedding plans for August 4, 2006 in Fortaleza. Praise also that no one else was hurt when an 18 year old criminal was shot and killed in the street about two blocks from our church as the meetings were about to begin.
Ed & Jane Lieb - Retired
Praise the Lord with us for His many blessings. Pray for Ed as he prepares lessons on Corinthians that he expects to teach at the Antioch Bible Institute. Pray for us as we help a team from Emmanuel Church prepare for their trip to Brazil. Also, pray that Ed's hip problem may be well taken care of.
Sam & Jeanne Stucky - Retired
We would appreciate your prayers for Jeanne as she goes to Portland, OR June 15th to see the doctor and have an MRI. On the 16th she is scheduled to have the Stereotactic Radial surgery which will be an all day procedure to treat three tumors. Pray also for Sam as he has the privilege of teaching the book of James for the adult Sunday school class. Pray also that teh cortisone shot Sam had last month will alleviate the pain in his legs and back.
Harold & Ruth Green - Finance Director BGFM
Throughout the summer several of our mission families will be returning to the States for their home assignment. We look forward to their ministry updates as well as edifying fellowship together. Pray for Harold as he works through financial matters with them and for Ruth as she encourages them concerning their newsletters and updates their address lists. Our grandson, Jeremy, will be entering the military June 29th. Pray with us that there will be other fellows in his group who love the Lord and would encourage one another.
Dave & Connie Johnson
Praise the Lord with us that we have found a place to rent for meetings. Pray for new contacts in that area. Pray for Shell and others doing evangelistic home Bible studies and that those studying would come to Christ.
Retreat Center - Al Pierschbacher
We are thankful for the progress at the retreat center. Pray for the completion of the ceiling in the new kitchen and dining area. We are asking the Lord for His blessing in having the roof on and everything roughed in by the end of June.
Bill & Sandi Graf - Missionaries at Large
A record number of application forms to the Rio Grande Bible Institute have been requested by prospective students. Pray that parents will be supportive and that churches will give financially and that the Immigration Service will issue visas enabling at least fifty new students to begin the next semester.
Philip & Rachel Stucky
Praise the Lord with us that Jaqueline, Rosy, and Keylia have trusted in Christ as their Savior. Pray that they would grow in the Lord as they are being discipled. Pray also for the salvation of Jose, Maria and their family, Marco, Thayse and others who live in Village Campestre who are studying the Bible with us and our Brazilian coworkers.
Jonathan & Chima Nichols
Pray for God's direction in Chara and Praus' lives as they prepare to attend Master's College this fall and for a smooth transition. Pray for the salvation of Humberto, who edited the Lessons in John series and is now studying with me and is under growing conviction. Pray for Pastor George as he takes over the study. Praise God for Gervasio's ability and willingness to substitute teach for me during the three months we are in the US. Pray for Chima and me as we visit supporting churches (mid-June through mid-September) and prepare for opening a new work in Tiangua shortly after our return to Brazil.

Pray that churches and individuals that we have written to will respond so we can arrange our home assignment travel schedule. We are thankful for those that have responded, but we need to hear from many more.
National Church Planting Efforts
Praise God for the new church planting work in Coreau, a cooperative effort involving three national pastors and their churches in Pavuna, Camocim, and Sobral. Pray that the churches in northern Ceara will have wisdom to initiate their plans to open a new work in the unchurched area west of Gijoca.
Jerry & Bev Lehrman
Two couples from the Bible Institute are praying about going as missionaries to the neighboring country of Guyana when they graduate. The men are planning a short observation trip there in June to learn more about what they can expect when they go as missionaries. Pray as Jerry counsels them in the preparations and planning for this trip. Pray also as we as a family are working on the translation of a Creation/Evolution workbook for students in our churches and at the Bible Institute.

Pray for Auristenio who is one of the first believers in the Morada Nova ministry. Pray for us as we consider new construction at the new Manaaim camp. Pray for Anna and Calvin as they finish their school year.
Larry & Ruth Lipka - Executive Director BGFM
Thank God with us that Renee graduated from the University of Illinois Springfield. Pray for her as she plans to teach at the ALPHA school in Brazil for one semester. When she returns she will be faced with a number of important decisions. Pray that God will give her wisdom and direction needed in her life as she plans for her future. Pray also for Rachelle as she will be home for the summer and returning to Appalachian Bible College in the fall to complete her degree in elementary education.
Short Term Missionaries
Continue to pray for our short term missionaries who will be serving in Brazil over the next several months. Some are still lacking legal documents and others need financial support. Ask God to encourage their hearts as they look forward to this special opportunity of ministry in Brazil.

Praise the Lord for monthly support from some of our Brazilian churches in support of Silver Lake Bible Camp. Pray for two camp events in July that are being planned. Pray with us concerning decisions regarding our return to Brazil, whether we should remain here to complete Sue's cancer treatments or return to Brazil and complete them there.
Wendell & Florence Ann Hayden - Retired
We thank the Lord for opportunities to serve Him. Wendell now serves on the church board, and he continues as one of the teachers of the adult Sunday school class which he enjoys very much. Please pray fro him as he ministers in these areas.
Jonathan & Denielle Johnson - Appointees
Vacation Bible Schools, Summer Work Trips, Camps, and Campouts mean summer is here. Pray for the students we minister to, that they would seek the Lord first this summer. Pray that we would have wisdom in leading them. Please pray for open doors as we hope to schedule deputation meetings for the coming fall.
