Prayer and Praise - May 2006
Chris & Jana Disler
Praise the Lord that in April we held our first church service in Morada Nova. Please pray for the spiritual growth of the believers and that many more would put their faith in Jesus for their salvation. Please pray for us as we will be returning to the States soon for our first home assignment.
Ken & Lori Stucky
The ALPHA Christian School Ministry deals with students daily who have very little or no discipline at home. Pray for wisdom for the ALPHA administrative and teaching staff to guide these 200 plus little lives toward a life of purpose and self control. We desire to help our students learn how to make discerning choices in their lives and to follow a plan for reaching worthy goals.
Jim & Lydia Johnson
We praise the Lord for our first regular public services on a Sunday here in Morada Nova. Pray for the salvation of those who have been coming to the meetings. We also thank the Lord for progress on the Manaaim campgrounds.
Bill & Sandi Graf - Missionaries at Large
This month the Rio Grande Bible Institute will host a pastor's conferencce for pastors from all over the Spanish speaking world. Pray that we may all make the necessary preparations and that it would be a genuine blessing and help to each pastor who attends. Pray for wisdom as we prepare for work teams during the summer months.
Ron & Ranelle Stucky
Praise the Lord that the adolescents are excited about studying Genesis in our meetings twice a month. Pray for Ron as he continues to turn over teaching responsibilities at school so that he can do administration.
Gerald & Amy Bergen - Retired
We praise the Lord for a very fulfilling two month ministry in Brazil teaching at Antioch Bible Institute and ministering in over ten area churches. We also thank the Lord for adequate health and finances to do this ministry. Please pray for the twenty three Bible Institute students as they prepare for ministry and for several churches going through difficult times.
Ellie Driesenga - Furlough
Praise the Lord! May 6th I will be graduating from Calvary Bible College. Please pray as I visit churches and travel back to California this month. Pray that the Lord would work in people's hearts and minds, challenging them in the area of missions.
Roger & Crystal Johansen
Please pray for Francisco's salvation, and that God will raise up more men to lead the works in Maceio.
Alisa Pierschbacher - Appointee
I am thankful to the Lord for safety in travel last month and that several here indicated a desire to help in my support. Praise the Lord that I was able to participate in a missions conference in Kansas City last month. Pray as I will be sharing in several churches this month as well as helping in some Vacation Bible Schools this summer.
Paul & Elaine Syers
Vanderly, a young convert in the Gijoca church, started having children's classes in a small settlement out of town. Lidia, an Antioch Bible Institute student, began last month to help her because the number of children attending has increased. Please pray for them and also for Neidiane, Vanderly's unsaved friend. We met her some time ago but recently her new job at a computer repair shop brought her back into our lives. And speaking of computer repairs, we are so thankful to the Lord that now we are able to do them in Gijoca rather than making an extra trip to Fortaleza.
Dale & Carol Johnson
Praise the Lord for the many opportunities to invite people to listen to the excellent Gospel radio program from 6:30-7:00 am. This reaches the metropolitan area of Fortaleza with potentially three million people in the audience. More donors are needed for our radio ministry. Pray with us.
Philip & Rachel Stucky
On April 7th we celebrated 27 years of marriage. We praise the Lord for bringing us together and giving us the privilege of serving Him. We are also privileged to have our son, Luke, visit us here in Maceio. He will be arriving on May 12th to spend a couple of weeks with us. Pray that our time spent together will be profitable and challenging in Luke's life.
Caninde Bible Church
Jesus Christ said, "I will build my church..." Praise His name for adding to the body of believers in the Caninde Bible Church, and for the testimonies of believers who were baptized in April. Pray that the older Christians will disciple these younger ones in their faith in the Lord. On May 13-14th we would appreciate your prayers as our family along with our former co-workers, Chagas and Leni, gather with the believers in Caninde to praise the Lord for the nineteen years He has allowed the light of the glorious gospell of Christ to be preached in that dark city.
Joe & Jeanie Stucky
Pray for open hearts as we visit the homes of ALPHA students. We desire to show our interest in these families and share the message of salvation with them. Pray for wisdom in using our time wisely each day.
Dave & Sue Eldert
Praise that Sue's chemo has gone so very well that the doctor has finished this series after sixteen treatments. He is testing Sue to see if she can take a new series. The tumors were reduced by half by the first series and have presented an aspect that can be helped by a second type of treatment. The good news is that we will be able to do it in Brazil. So after three months of the new treatment we can possibly purchase tickets for our return sometime in July. Pray that all of this will go well and we may return to Brazil before next semester begins the middle of August.
Priscilla School - Teacher Training for Women
Pray as we send information to the ladies in Silver Lake Camp area so they can begin registering for Priscilla school July 17th-22nd. Pray for the teachers as they prepare their lessons for the session in July to be held at the Silver Lake Bible Camp. Pray also for the students as they do their preparatory studies.
Bruce & LeeAnn Nichols
Pray that Bruce will have God's wisdom, grace and peace as he travels back and forth and teaches monthly at the Antioch Bible Institute along with his monthly trip to train church leadeers in Santa Quiteria. On these trips Bruce takes Bibles, hymnals, and Bible study books to sell as a service to our churches. This ministry is time consuming and mentally exhausting as he orders, pays for and packs boxes with the exact book or Bible people have requested. Pray that we will be joyful stewards of the Lord. Please pray for the salvation of those that study the Bible with us weekly here in Caucaia.
Lucy Lieb - Furlough
I am thankful for safety in my travels and the opportunity to share about the ministry the Lord has called me to do. Pray as I travel to Connecticut and Pennsylvania during the month of May. Pray that I will have all of my needed support by the time I leave for Brazil on August 7th.
Ron & Nancy Johnson
Praise for God's faithfulness no matter what the circumstances. Pray for the Jereissati church as we prepare for home assignment in August. Please pray also for Ron's health and plans for our children.
Wendell & Florence Ann Hayden - Retired
We're grateful for opportunities to serve the Lord. On May 20, we will be speaking at the care center where Wendell's mother lives. We'll have the privilege of sharing about Brazil, and the Lord's work there. Please pray that God will use His word to speak to hearts, both saved, and unsaved.
Nancy Lieb
I am thankful for the special relationship that I have with Nancy Johnson, Lydia Johnson, and Cindy Peplow who have encouraged me during Lucy's absence for home assignment.
Harold & Ruth Green - Finance Director BGFM
This month our oldest grandson, Jeremy, will be graduating from high-school. We plan to attend his graduation and would appreciate your prayers for safety as we travel to Houston, Texas, May 22-30th. Pray for Jeremy as his plans are to enter the military in June.
Field Guest Home - Nancy Lieb
Gerald and Amy Bergen were here some days at the beginning and end of their stay. It was a pleasure to have them as well as other missionaries the month of April. Pray as we look for someone to manage the guest home during my home assignment next year.
Al & Nadine Pierschbacher
Praise the Lord for the new church plant. We have averaged over fifty in attendance. Pray for servants to step up for various ministry needs. Praise the Lord for the progress at the retreat center. We are preparing the ceiling beams for the kitchen and dining area. Pray we will be able to finish and get the roof on by the end of June. Pray for the salvation of Tiago, Joe, and Val.
Jonathan & Denielle Johnson - Appointee
Please pray for the high-school seniors we minister to as they graduate this month. Pray that they might seek the Lord, and His goodness for their lives. Please continue to keep our home church in your prayers, as we seek individuals who will be involved in the lives of our young people, and fill the gaps as we begin deputation.
Jerry & Bev Lehrman
We thank the Lord for the involvement of our ABI students in the ministries at area churches. Several of the men are helping out with the preaching at a church presently without a pastor. Pray that we can continue to challenge and train students as they prepare for future career Christian ministry.
John 17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Pray for those confused in religion to know the only true God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Dave & Connie Johnson
Praise God with us that Lindemberg and Lindevangio are memorizing verses as part of their discipleship course. Pray for the salvation of Shell, Bob, Franisquiha, Carlos, Germano, and others that attend our services. Ask God to help us find the right location to rent for our meetings and for the funds for chairs, benches, and land to purchase for our future church site.
Larry & Ruth Lipka - Executive Director BGFM
Pray for our daughter, Renee, as she graduates from the University this month. She is uncertain about her future plans, but definitely wants to teach at the ALPHA School in Brazil from August through December as she did in 2004. Ask God to meet her needs for prayer and financial support. Pray for all of our missionary children and their parents as they finish out the school year, some from home school and others away at school.
Short Term Ministries
Several young people have made application for short term ministries on our BGFM fields. There is always the process of financial support, passage, passports and visas, and other preparations to complete. Pray that this would not be a time of anxiety for them, but a precious time of growing in the Lord. Pray that their time in Brazil would be very profitable in their lives and in the areas where they minister.
Satellite School for Pastors & Laymen
Pastors and laymen who are not able to go away to Bible school are able to study through this satellite school. Pray for those who still encounter transportation problems or conflicts with work schedules. Pray that a solution could soon be worked out so they will be able to attend.
