Dale and Carol Johnson, missionaries with BGFM Mission for over 50 years continue to serve here in Brazil. Dale is director of BGFM radio ministry. Carol is editor of Brazil Gospel News. Pray for their continued outreach with Bible Correspondence Courses, and Colportage ministry, as God enables.

In June of 2004, we will complete 57 years together, having been married in June 1947. On Christmas Eve of 1953 we left New York and the Statue of Liberty by ship with 3 weeks on the water. This completed 50 years since we sailed for Brazil serving the Lord. What remarkable changes we have seen in Brazil. It has been like going from pioneer days progressing to the most modern. Fortaleza was a small rather backward capital city, but today it is a bustling city of over three million population.

We arrived with four children, ages 5, 3 (twins), and 1. We added four more children here in Brazil. Now we have 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Six of our eight children have lived with their children here in Brazil serving the Lord. There is a lot of coming and going in our family. Three grandchildren are already third generation missionaries. How we need to pray for our young people today with all the temptations and challenges before them.

Our first 24 years, after language study, we were involved in church planting. Since 1979, we have been active in the radio ministry. Now our total time in the radio ministry includes 37 years. We have participated in the colportage ministry through the years with selling of Bibles, personal evangelism, tract distribution and personal invitations to listen to our radio programs sponsored by our Bible Churches. Bible correspondences courses have also been an important part of our ministry.

We praise the Lord for the opportunities we have had to share the Gospel with many Brazilians and have seen many come to a knowledge of Christ as Savior. As long as health permits, our plan and goal is to continue making the Good News of Salvation known to many Brazilians who yet walk in darkness Our desire is "… to turn them them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God…" (Acts 26:17b, 18)
