Jim and Lydia Johnson were both born in central Kansas, but did not meet each other until they studied at Calvary Bible College. After graduation from college with a degree in missions they were married and then joined the Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission.

Although they have served in other areas, most of their time has been dedicated to the church-planting ministry in the Lower Jaguaribe River Valley. This is a huge interior section of the state filled with cities that have little or no Gospel witness. The Johnsons have been involved in planting churches in the Jaguaribe Valley cities of Limoeiro do Norte (Pop 50,000); Quixeré (pop 35,000) and plan to begin a new church plant in 2005 in the city of Morada Nova (pop 68,000). Please pray with them as they start again from scratch in a new city. Pray also for more workers to minister in the region. Plans are also being made for the beginning of a retreat center and mini Bible institute for the region.
